Loving Faithfulness

Lighting the Advent Wreath/Call to Worship

Young and unmarried she would became pregnant. Fear would be normal.
Mary chose loving faithfulness.

Old and married she had not become pregnant. Despair would have been normal.
Elizabeth chose loving faithfulness.

Both younger and  older kinswomen became pregnant.
God chose faithfulness to the women.

Younger went to visit older. She called out a greeting upon arrival.
Elizabeth’s infant leapt in her womb!

The unborn babe was unable to contain his joy at the presence of the woman who would be loving mother to Jesus.
God’s faithful love becomes incarnate on Christmas night.

Let us worship the God who never gives up on humanity. Let us worship the One whose love always wins!
Let us worship in love & joy today.

*Hymn Star-Child #174 SPP

In a time when our world is fragmented and filled with too much hate…
We light this fourth candle of Advent, a symbol of the love embedded in the nature of God & God’s unfolding realm.
